The tire is installed on the rim, and the rim is welded to the hub. Main function of the Cat® Rim is supporting and sealing the tire to the wheel and makes a difference in friction reduction and handling as well as gas mileage. The Rim ensures proper fitting between tire and retaining the air inside the tire. The Rims are made of strong metal such as steel to withstand the force and load of the Cat® machine. The width & diameter of the rim determines the size of a tire. Cat® Wheel Rim can operate in heavy-duty applications such as severe vibration, shock, extreme operating temperature ranges, thermal cycle, thermal shock, humidity, corrosion and excessive dust.
