A Magnetic Switch detects the presence or absence of a magnetic field. It consists of two parts, a reed switch and a magnet. The reed switch is a small, sealed glass tube containing two metal reeds that are hermetically sealed inside. The reeds are positioned close to each other but do not touch when the switch is in its normal state. When a magnetic field is applied to the vicinity of the reed switch, the magnetic flux lines induce a magnetic force on the reeds. This force causes the reeds to attract each other, making them come into contact and complete an electrical circuit. This state is known as the closed or on position of the switch.Attributes:• Without physical contact, detect the presence of a magnetic field• Allowing for rapid detection and switchingApplications:A Magnetic Switch controls the flow of electricity in a circuit based on the presence of a magnetic field.
