A Helical Compression Spring is defined as an elastic machine element, which deflects (compresses) under the action of the load i.e. the external force tends to shorten the spring, and returns to its original shape when the load is removed. The helical spring is made from a wire of rectangular cross-section bent in the form of a helix. The external force acts along the axis of the spring and induces torsional shear stress in the spring wire.Attributes:• Constant spring rate i.e. force required to compress a helical compression spring increases linearly with the amount of compression• Capable of absorbing and dampening shocks and vibrations• Spring constant is 5.62 kg/ mm• Made of material that provides high strength and fatigue resistanceApplications:A Helical Compression Spring is used in the pressure Control Valve which helps for valve retraction to its original position and reduces pressure.
